Where is the relic of the Virgin Mary?

The relic of the Virgin Mary is located in the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles, California. It is an arm reliquary originally from 12th century France that contains several relics, including a corporal cloth that had been originally placed on the breasts of the Virgin Mary.

The origin and age of the Shroud is unknown, as is the circumstances under which it was used to wrap Mary’s body. Some believe that following her death, the cloth was preserved and perhaps even sent from the Holy Land back to the West.

This might explain why the Shroud is said to bear the image of a woman who looks suspiciously like the Virgin Mary.

The Shroud often appears in religious tradition, appearing in the Middle Ages in various texts, although it was not until 1578 CE that it was authenticated. Pope Pius XII declared the Shroud to be “the authentic and unique imprint left by the body of Jesus Christ!” As such, the Shroud has become a powerful icon of Jesus and Mary, and a major pilgrimage site for Christians around the world.

It has been examined by scientists who found evidence of early use and age, further verifying that it may have been used to wrap the Virgin Mary’s body.

While the Shroud remains a mystery, it continues to be venerated by Christians around the world. Its mere presence is enough to inspire and show devotion to the Virgin Mary, who holds a special place in the hearts of Christians everywhere.
