Does Rumple become the Dark One again?

Yes, Rumple eventually becomes the Dark One again. After going through a series of events and character developments, he decides to take the Dark One’s power for himself once more. He does this in order to save his son, Henry, from the Evil Queen, who plans to kill him.

Through a series of magical rituals, Rumple obtains the powers of the Dark One once more and is able to save Henry from certain death. However, he still struggles between being the Dark One and the man he wants to be.

Despite this, his journey of redemption continues.

Does Rumple get a happy ending?

At the end of the series, Rumple is given a satisfying, if not necessarily ‘happy’, ending. He has been stripped of his magical powers and given a chance to start his life anew in the Land Without Magic.

However, he cannot go back to the way things were before he acquired the Dark One’s power. Rumple is left to his fate, on a course of redemption due to the actions of saving the life of his grandson, Gideon, and saving Storybrooke from the Evil Queen.

It is a bittersweet ending for Rumple, as he can never find true happiness by running away from his past. He must now find a way to overcome his darkness with his own courage and strength. He needs to learn to forgive himself and attempt to make amends for his past misdeeds.

In that sense, Rumple does get a happy ending, but it’s hard-earned, and not necessarily a conventional one.
