Why do BTS have to go to the military?

BTS is a South Korean pop group and they, like all male citizens of South Korea, are legally required to serve in the military for a period of two years. This is a longstanding Korean tradition that has been in effect since the Korean War.

Korean law states that all able-bodied Korean men must serve in the military for at least 18 months and current law allows for a maximum of 30 months instead of the two-year period. This means that all members of BTS are required to enlist in the military at some point in their lives.

The importance of military service in Korea is seen as a cornerstone of Korean culture and is a way to express gratitude for those who fought and died for their country. It is also viewed by many as an essential part of national security.

The government believes that by legally requiring military service, it can ensure that all citizens are familiar with the weapons and tactics of the military, creating an essential national defense.

In addition to national security, many people in Korea also view military service as a way to instill discipline and respect for the country and its laws. Serving in the military is seen as a way to improve the individual’s character and maturity, which is important in a society that largely values respect and tradition.

Ultimately, the mandatory military service law serves to provide the South Korean government with additional manpower in the military, increase the security of the nation, and reinforce the importance of service to one’s country among citizens.

How long will BTS stay in the military?

BTS members are subject to the same South Korean laws regarding conscription as any other Korean citizen over the age of 18, meaning they will eventually have to serve in the military. Despite the fact that enlistment is expected, no specific date has been set yet.

According to the Military Manpower Administration of South Korea, due to the rising demand for talent in the entertainment industry, the age of potential soldiers is gradually increasing, meaning each member of BTS cannot enlist until after the age of 30.

While the band evidently has no future plans to split, the members are expected to serve sometime in the next 7 or 8 years.

The South Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism have also discussed creating a special military culture “celebrity support corps” for certain entertainers, so that BTS may be allowed to provide services, such as performing for soldiers.

However, it remains unclear whether this policy would apply to the members of BTS or not. Ultimately, the timeline of the individual members’ service will depend on efforts being taken to either amend the current laws, or to create a new system specifically tailored to the band, but it is expected that the members will likely be enlisted soon, as required by law.

Will Jungkook go to military?

How long is Korean military service for idols?

Korean military service is mandatory for all male citizens of South Korea, and this includes male K-Pop idols. All South Korean men aged 18 to 28 must complete at least 21 months of service, typically in the army, navy, or air force.

Discharges are possible in some cases, including under special circumstances, medical conditions, family hardship, or economic hardship, though these exceptions are typically rare and should not be relied upon by most.

Given that K-Pop idols are typically around 19 or 20 when they debut, they are subject to the same mandatory service as every other male citizen. Thus, they must complete the 21-month enlistment upon reaching the legal age.

Exceptions can be made at the discretion of military authorities in special situations, but the vast majority of male K-Pop idols will end up doing the requisite military service regardless of their fame or popularity.

Why is Korea mandatory military service?

Korea has mandatory military service for all able-bodied Korean men aged 18 to 35. This is because of the unresolved warfare between North and South Korea, which has continued for more than 65 years since the Korean War in 1950.

After the war ended in 1953, a state of armistice was established and both sides agreed to a ceasefire and development of a buffer zone. However, since then, the two Koreas have never been able to reach a mutual agreement on how to peacefully reunify, and neither country has been willing to yield to the other.

The prolonged state of tension between North and South Korea has resulted in the South Korean government increasing the country’s defense capabilities, which includes the establishment of a mandatory military service system.

This system requires all fit young Korean men to serve in the military for a minimum of twenty-one months. The primary goal of mandatory military service is to strengthen the South Korean defense forces in the event of a future conflict.

The South Korean government also aims to foster national unity— as people from all backgrounds, social classes and income levels come together to serve their country.

Additionally, many South Koreans see mandatory military service as a rite of passage that instills a strong sense of nationalism and pride in their country. As a result, the mandatory military service plays an important role in South Korean society, and is seen as a source of unity and loyalty to the nation.

Did Jin leave BTS for the army?

No, Jin has not left BTS for the army yet. All South Korean males are required to serve in the military for a period of at least 21 months, and Jin’s enlistment date is scheduled for December 11, 2020.

BTS as a group have discussed the importance of fulfilling one’s mandated military service, and all the members have agreed to carry out their duties. All of the BTS members have expressed their support for Jin, and their promise to stand by him during this difficult time.

Additionally, Big Hit Entertainment, the agency managing BTS, recently announced that the group will continue to promote and release music as a seven-member group, including Jin, until his enlistment date.

What did Jin say about military?

Jin has spoken out about military service in South Korea multiple times, making clear that he is strongly against it. He has said that military service would take away his energy and his freedom, as well as put a strain on his relationship with BTS.

He believes that serving in the military is something that should be reserved for people who genuinely want to be there, and that it is not something that should be forced on anyone. He also wrote an open letter to Korean President Moon Jae-in asking him to allow BTS to postpone their mandatory military service.

In it, he spoke of the importance of their music and the impact it has had on fans around the world. He also questioned why their art should be held back due to a military requirement. He suggested that this could be a major loss for the entire country, as BTS has become a source of immense pride for South Korea.

Which member of BTS is leaving?

At this time, there is no official announcement regarding which member of BTS is leaving the group. All seven members – RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook – are still active members of the group and are currently promoting their latest album, BE.

In addition, the members have been seen together in recent interviews, variety shows, and other promotional events. For now, it appears that all seven members are still together and are planning for upcoming activities and releases as a group.

Who left BTS before debut?

Prior to their official debut, BTS consisted of seven members: RM, J-Hope, Suga, Jin, V, Jimin, and Jungkook. However, one of these original members, L.Joe, left the group just weeks before their debut.

He made his decision to leave due to a lack of trust between him and Big Hit Entertainment.

L.Joe was initially hired as the group’s vocalist, however during recording sessions of the songs “Like” and “Don’t Know”, it came to light that the other six members had perfected the songs and were ultimately chosen as the official lineup.

Although L.Joe was featured in the music video of “Like”, he was not included in the group’s debut activities, opting instead to leave the group and focus on his solo career.

Although he was not part of the official lineup, L.Joe’s presence and influence can still be seen in BTS today. The first song BTS officially released as part of their debut album was a ballad entitled “No More Dream” which contains the line “It’s alright I’m different” which was suggested by L.Joe during recordings.

L.Joe ultimately returned to Big Hit Entertainment in 2016 as a solo artist, and BTS and L.Joe have established a good relationship with each other since then.
